Ep. 123: What Food Freedom Really Means: Pep Talk

Nutrition· Podcast

food freedom

Today, I’m going to be your healthy living and food freedom cheerleader! At the beginning of the year, we often feel overwhelmed by big New Year’s resolutions regarding our food choices. We try to dive in head first to the newest fad diet – keto, gluten free, paleo, you name it! I’m going to share a few secrets that will de-stress your healthy living journey and lead you to food freedom because each of us are individuals and our diets should be unique to us!

Who’s ready for a food freedom pep talk?

How To Simplify Your Health

Our bodies and our health are complex. We need to simplify the ideas, breaking down big concepts into smaller, more understandable lessons. When these ideas are boiled more simply, we can better comprehend information, it becomes less daunting, and therefore, it becomes easier to make an actionable plan. Start by making small changes every day and then your goals become more attainable.

What Is Bio-Individuality?

While our bodies can be very similar in design, they are uniquely different in how they function. The concept of bio-individuality explains why certain diets work for some, but not for others. While Keto may have cleared the brain fog and taken off all the weight for one person, it might not be the answer for you because your body and genes are unique to you. Your health journey has to be yours and yours alone.

Getting to Know Your Body

I need food before going to bed to help me sleep. That might sound counterintuitive to what you might be hearing or reading lately, but it’s what works for me. I also don’t eat eggs, very little dairy and grains, but it’s because that doesn’t work for my body. Focusing on what your specific diet needs are is what can lead to food freedom because as your body gets healthier, you’re going to get to know it more. It’s important to stay focused and not compare our path to someone else. Focusing on what your specific diet needs are is what can lead to food freedom.

Focus on what your body needs and embrace it!
