When you think your house could have mold, it can feel so overwhelming knowing where to start. I get it, mold is tricky! This episode is all about how to test your house for mold.
The truth is that most mold remediation companies don’t know how to properly remediate mold. It’s just a fact that most people will just use the kill & encapsulate method and think that will take care of everything. This method is industry standard but in my opinion, it is not enough.
I just went though testing my house for mold and actually it turns out our house had a problem with the gram negative bacteria actinomyces and not mold. Through this process, I learned that there are actually things you can do on your own to figure out if mold is an issue in your house.
You can gain more information by just using your eyes and looking for the signs of mold. Additionally, you can test your house with a dust test or air test. These are both easy and somewhat inexpensive way to dive in and see if mold could be a problem.
When you start to dig deeper, you can consult with an expert. I have a list of experts below that can help you no matter where you are in the country. Then once you know what you are dealing with, you can remediate if necessary.
Finally, you can test your body for mold and start healing. You shouldn’t walk through this alone. I highly recommend working with a well trained mold literate practitioner on this.
