I get it, you’re worried the goals you’ve set for yourself are going to fall through the cracks of reality once the shininess of a new year wears off.
We’ve all been there.
Routines set back in and before you know it, you’re back where you were before the holidays.
BUT…
It is entirely possible to achieve your goals even after life goes back to normal and February rolls around. The thing with goals is, you want to make them into habits, and then they don’t disappear, because they are now part of your life.
Here are some simple tips to keep you on track, all year long.
Setting health related goals.
Break down big goals
Set yourself up for success by setting goals that can be broken down into actionable steps.
In doing so, you’ll be able to measure progress along the way, have a plan to tackle your goals, and enjoy some success even before you reach your big goal.
If you don’t break your big goals down, they will be too big to actually accomplish and are far less likely to happen.

Establish boundaries with yourself
Determine what you can handle. And realize it is different than other women.
If you know that certain workouts hurt your body or certain foods don’t agree with your digestive system, don’t force yourself to implement these into your new routines just because they work for other people.
Your goals are going to be completely unique to you, and should be based on the future you want to see for yourself and your family…not what your friends or people on Instagram are doing!
Here is an example. My body doesn’t love long and intense workouts, and they seem to be all the rage right now. I have learned that lower impact workouts, slower and more precise weight lifting, and barre workouts help me flourish.

How to actually follow through on your goals
Track your progress
Every year, I use a tool called Powersheets. This tool not only helps you set goals based on the type of person you want to be when you’re 80, it helps you break those goals down into tiny steps, then gives you space to track your progress: daily, weekly, and monthly.
Tracking my progress towards my goals has been a huge game changer for me since I’ve started using Powersheets (5 years ago). It really drives home the whole “progress over perfection” thing, and reminds me that although I am not at my final goal, I am moving towards it steadily!
There’s no right or wrong way to fill out powersheets. There have been months where I haven’t filled them out at all, and others where I check in each day with where I am with my goals.
Find a support system
If you want to reach your goals then you need to recognize that there will be times you want to quit. For that very reason, it’s important to surround yourself with people who not only cheer you on, but who will remind you why you got started in the first place.
Celebrate your wins
The bigger your goals, the more important it is going to be to celebrate along the way.
If you want to go gluten free, and make it through 2 weeks in a row with no gluten, then celebrate that.
If you want to exercise more, do a little happy dance after you do 3 workouts in a week.
Acknowledging and celebrating progress along the way is proven to guel even more progress.
So, instead of looking at how far you have to go, look at how far you’ve come and enjoy that progress! There are so many lessons to learn during the progress.
Give yourself grace WITHOUT throwing in the towel
If you blow one of your goals, give yourself grace. No one is perfect. We are all just works in progress.
However, just because you had a misstep doesn’t mean you have to throw out the baby with the bath water. One little set back doesn’t mean you should go crazy and resort back to your old ways. Maybe you need to re-evaluate. Is your goal to big? Is it something that you don’t think is important, so the goal isn’t actually important enough for you to do?
So – give yourself grace, then keep MOVING FORWARD.
If you want to check out Powersheets and use them to both set your goals, and follow-through on your goals, you can do so here! Honestly, I recommend this tool to everyone in my life, because they are so, so, so powerful. My Powersheets have helped me accomplish so many goals that are truly meaningful for both me and family. Whether your goals are health related or not, business related or not, Powersheets will help you cultivate what matters in your life with intentionality.
