Good skincare can be confusing, expensive and if you’re not careful, toxic. So, as you navigate how to best care for your skin, I want to continually provide you with content that helps you simplify the process of finding what works for you.
Which is why I’m here today to chat with you about my clean beauty a.m. and p.m. skincare routine!
With the release of Beautycounter’s newest product line, Countertime, the process of caring for your skin in a safe AND effective way just got a whole lot simpler. While it’s not all I use, it now makes up the majority of my skincare regimen, and has kept my skin glowing since I switched over.
I won’t get too crazy with ingredient details, but the active ingredient in Countertime is a plant-derived Retinatural Complex, designed to visibly firm, brighten, and plump the skin. This Retinatural Complex is made up of Bakuchiol, which has been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic skincare remedies for centuries and Swiss Alpine Rose, which is renowned for its remarkable ability to protect itself against dehydration and other environmental stressors at the highest altitudes of the Swiss Alps. “Bakuchiol has been shown to provide skin-care results that are comparable to retinol—without harmful side effects such as skin irritation and increased sun sensitivity—and Swiss Alpine rose boosts the skin’s antioxidant defense” (Beautycounter).
Together, these two ingredients create a powerful skincare duo that will leave your skin hydrated and radiant! But..there’s more to my routine…so, here goes!
Clean Beauty A.M. Skincare Routine
Step 1
Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil (1 Pump): I get my hands wet and rub in the cleanser which turns it into a cleansing milk. I then use a Norwex body cloth to wash the cleansing oil off. This cleanser removes makeup and dirt without stripping your skin from it’s essential lipids.
Step 2
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence:(1pump) I put this in the palms of my hands and pat it into my face. This essence is way more hydrating than a toner, but goes on similarly and plays a similar role in your skincare routine. This gives your skin a little glow and is full of vital nutrients your skin needs to look amazing. There are a lot of active ingredients in the essence to help your skin, so if for some reason your skin doesn’t love the serum (which you’ll read more about my skin below, this would be a good one to make sure to get)
Step 3
Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream: (¾-1 pump) I love using this soft cream as my day cream/moisturizer. It has just the right amount of hydration for a daytime cream. If you didn’t want heavy hydration at night, you could use this again in the P.M. This cream helps your skin to look and stay hydrated, further adding to your glow!
I have a fairly simple AM routine…just three products, because momma’s busy and the kids are usually ready to start the day!
Clean Beauty P.M. Skincare Routine
Step 1
Same as my A.M. routine
Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil (1 Pump)
Step 2
Same as my A.M. routine
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence (1 pump)
Step 3
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream: (2 small dabs) This is the most hydrating night cream I have ever used! It is thick and whipped and wonderful and I can’t wait for the winter when my skin is drier, to see how this cream helps combat my typical winter dry skin. The Supreme Cream helps reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles overtime which I’m not mad about!
Step 4
Overnight resurfacing peel: I use this 3x/week after the cleansing oil. If you use the Countertime serum, you will replace the serum with the peel. You don’t need to use both each night. This peal clears away dull surface skin cells which leaves your face looking brighter and tighter in the morning.
Step 5
Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream: (1 small dab) I use the eye cream at night only, and put a tiny dab I below my eyes, on top of my brow, and in between my eyes. This eye cream is designed to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and brighten the eye area. I’ve even heard it works so well you may not need concealer anymore. I’m excited to see if that is true for me.
SOMETIMES I use….
Cleansing Balm: This is one of my absolute favorite Beautycounter products, but is not part of the Countertime line. Right before bed I usually put this on my skin and lips. It’s been a product that keeps my dry skin at bay, but I haven’t been using it as often as I used to, since I’ve been using Supreme Cream. However, I do still put it on my lips before bed.
I Tried…
Countertime Radiance Serum: This product gave my skin a bit of a hard time at first. I have resilient skin that usually doesn’t have any issues or reactions to products. But, something about all of the active ingredients in the serum made my skin peel a bit and gave me little red breakout bumps. I stopped using the serum and haven’t had an issue since. I tried it again recently after taking 3 weeks off of it and in two days I had 3 little red bumps/ zits again. I have heard that for some people starting the whole collection at once can be too much. I guess that I am one of those people :)! It just goes to show that we all have different skin, with different needs.
*To determine it was the serum, I stopped the whole line, added in product by product and was able to finally narrow it down to the serum being the issue.*
Again, Countertime has given my skin such a glow! I have dry skin naturally, but haven’t struggled with that since starting starting to use Countertime. And, the anti-aging benefits don’t hurt either! In addition to feeling like my skin is super hydrated, I have no unevenness and haven’t been wearing as much makeup because my skin feels and looks so healthy. Usually I just put on a little brow pencil, concealer, mascara, blush, and I’m set to go! The other day I looked in the mirror and thought my foundation looked great, but then I realized I wasn’t wearing any foundation.
If you are interested in buying Countertime as a set (you do save some money that way), you can give it a try for yourself by heading on over here! As always, you can buy products one or two at a time.
