JEH #38: Why You Can’t Live a Truly Non-Toxic Lifestyle

Podcast

Non-Toxic Lifestyle

Something you may find surprising is I don’t actually believe we can live a TRULY non-toxic lifestyle.

Ottava and I were going to eat breakfast on our patio one beautiful morning and that’s when it hit me. The smell of dryer sheets. The smell of toxins! Toxins I didn’t ask for…

This event inspired me to do a Facebook Live in my group, as well as this podcast episode all about taking intentional steps to reduce toxic exposure.

Just because I believe it’s impossible to live a completely non-toxic lifestyle, doesn’t mean you should give yourself permission to knowingly use toxins in your day-to-day life.

Each day when you learn about something that is toxic, you should make a choice to get it out of your life and replace it with something safer.

You can definitely live a lifestyle with fewer toxins by cutting certain products out and replacing them with non-toxic or less toxic products in your home and environment.

Remember, there is no “perfection” when it comes to dealing with toxins, you just have to learn and decrease the best that you can.

Sponsor Spotlight: Beautycounter

Did you know that the personal care industry has very little regulation in our country?

Companies are allowed to include known toxins in their products – ingredients that are linked to hormone disruption, fertility issues, cancer and more.

And they aren’t required to disclose these ingredients with you. Sounds wrong, right?

Meghan Birt safe skincare

I have been aware for a number of years that our personal care products don’t have enough regulations in this country to be called safe.

I’ve known I needed to switch my products and throw away some of the more toxic things, but my problem was that I couldn’t find products that worked well!

Everything I tried left my skin feeling dry and my makeup looking like I hadn’t put anything on after 10 am.

It was a real problem and I wanted to give up trying to find good and safe products…that is, until I discovered Beautycounter!

Beautycounter is committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. law.

They’ve banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through their “Never List”—all while ensuring their products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market.
