The 7 layer salad is a famous salad in our household. I have been eating it as long as I can remember. It’s easy, filling, delicious and is naturally a healthy salad. My mom passed on the recipe to me and it’s something I make for groups and holidays because it’s easy, you can make it the day before and it feeds a crowd.
Ingredients
8 ounces spinach
1 package turkey bacon, cooked and diced
1/2 cup celery, diced
1/2 cup onion, finely diced
1/3 cup tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
1 cup organic raw cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup grape seed oil vegenaise (or homemade mayonnaise)
Directions
- This salad is made in layers as written by the recipes above
- In a medium sized bowl add the spinach to the bottom
- Layer the rest of the salad as written in the ingredients: turkey bacon, celery, onion, tomato, peas, cheese and mayo
- Spread the may on with a spatula
- Serve chilled, salad is best after being refrigerated for at least 4 hours, even overnight
