Over the years I’ve received many questions from podcast listeners related to men’s health and how women can best support their husbands’ health.
So, in this episode, I’m thrilled to be joined by former NFL football player Asher Allen to discuss all kinds of practical ways to best support men’s health, including our specific recommendations for nutrition, supplements, exercise, and lifestyle.
What You’ll Hear:
- 1 out of every 3 men will develop and struggle with some type of cardiovascular issue, according to the CDC
- Men are more likely to die from common cardiovascular issues like obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure than women
- Since the introduction of industrialization, genetically modified foods, and other exotoxins, hormone imbalances like estrogen dominance and low testosterone have become a big issue for men
- As female birth control pill use has increased, studies have shown that the general population is ingesting these hormones through the water supply, leading to hormone disruption in men, women and children alike
- A 2017 study found that 94% of the world’s water supply contained BPA and microplastics, both of which are endocrine disruptors
- Excess body weight, caffeine, alcohol, inflammatory foods, personal care, and cleaning products, and even tight clothing can increase estrogen and decrease testosterone in men
Nutrition Recommendations:
- Eat a non-GMO and organic diet
- 70-80% of your diet should be plant-based foods, including a wide variety of vegetables for gut barrier integrity (especially green leafy vegetables!)
- Choose sustainably sourced hormone-free meat and dairy products
- Limit carbohydrate intake
- Include a variety of anti-inflammatory foods like berries, fatty fish, and avocados
Supplement Recommendations:
- Omega Pure EPA-DHA 600 (take two softgels one to two times daily with food)
- Wellness Essentials Men’s Vitality (take one packet daily)
- Vitamin D3 with K2 (take one to two softgels daily)
- Probiotics (choose/rotate between the following options)
- UltraFlora Immune Booster Changed to UltraBiotic Defense (take one capsule daily to boost the immune system)
- UltraFlora Spectrum Changed to UltraBiotic Multi-Strain (take one capsule daily for well-rounded, well-balanced gut health)
- UltraFlora Intensive Care changed to UltraBiotic Extra Strength (take 1-2 capsules daily to help lower inflammation)
- Testro Balance – (take one capsule daily for male vitality and healthy testosterone levels)
- Dynamic Hormone Balance (take 1 scoop 1-2x/daily)
- Ashwagandha also helps increase testosterone
Exercise Recommendations:
- Incorporate resistance weight training and HIIT (high-intensity interval training)
- Aim for at least 3 workouts per week
- Dynamic Performance Drink (take 1 scoop 45 minutes before exercise)
- Dynamic Hydrate (drink 1 scoop in water for hydration during exercise)
- Dynamic Paleo Protein (take 1 scoop in water directly following exercise to aid recovery, gently increase insulin and curb cortisol)
Lifestyle Recommendations:
- Decrease body fat percentage to detox estrogens
- Switch to all natural, safe personal care and household cleaning products
- Reduce or eliminate use of plastics
