Ep. 132: Dr. Ashley Turner How Stewardship and Healthy Living work together

Marriage, Friendships, and Community· Podcast· Women's Health

podcast

I’m so excited to share my conversation with Dr. Ashley Turner because we are digging into how stewardship and healthy living go hand in hand. Dr. Ashley started out as an elementary education teacher, but quickly found a passion for natural health and functional medicine as her family endured many trials in their health. She shares their journey, discovering their daughters suffered from PANDAS and PANS syndromes, and how their decision for stewardship of their body and home has brought healing.

A Journey To Holistic Health

Dr. Ashley Turner was working as a substitute elementary education teacher as her husband completed his chiropractic training. Soon they had added a precious little girl to their family, and when she turned two, she started suffering from severe neuropsychiatric and GI symptoms. Their attempts at finding the source of the problems were unsuccessful, so they decided to turn to holistic and naturopathic medicine. It was this period of struggle, along with some of the natural health education from her husband’s schooling that ignited a passion for holistic health in Dr. Ashley.

Finally An Answer: PANDAS and PANS

During a three day conference for work, both Dr. Turners realized that their daughter had been suffering from PANS (Pediatric Acute Neuropsychiatric Syndrome). The discovery of this syndrome was so new that many physicians weren’t aware of it! We are discussing some of the most common symptoms of PANDAS and PANS, including which children it usually affects.

Stewardship and Healthy Living

When Western medicine wasn’t able to give them answers, and they decided they needed to do something, the Turners decided to take their lifestyle of healthy living to the next level. They began growing their own food, and a renewed sense of stewardship toward their bodies and home life allowing the Lord to guide their decisions. Dr. Ashley Turner began taking some notes to give as a guide to their patients but quickly realized that she was writing a book that many could benefit from.
