Ep. 131: Transparency in Nutrition Labeling with Margaret Wishingrad

Children's Health· Nutrition· Podcast· Women's Health

Podcast

As we all know, I’m a big fan of healthy living, and today we are getting to talk about another thing I love, cereal! After Margaret Wishigrad and her husband had their son, they were researching finger food for him, and realized that there wasn’t a cereal on the market they were comfortable giving him. They set out to change that, and Three Wishes Cereal was born!

Houston, We Have a Problem

Margaret & Ian Wishingrad have an extensive background in branding and marketing, but it was when their young son, Ellis, was hitting the stage of starting table food that they decided to tackle a problem for health conscious families. The cereals available at the time were either laden with sugar, extremely little protein, or tasted awful. Margaret went into full on Mama Bear research mode.

The Uphill Battle to Find the Right Ingredients

For the Wishingrads, there were a few important components. They knew their product needed to be low sugar, high protein, grain free, and plant based. Oh, and it couldn’t be crazy expensive either! It was also important to them for their company to be sustainable, affordable, and transparent. In their research they discovered an ingredient that was a game changer: monk fruit. Not only was it the perfect addition for taste, but it doesn’t spike blood sugar!

Ladies and Gentlemen, We Would Like to Introduce…

After extensive research, diving into each possible ingredient, and two years in product development, Three Wishes Cereal was introduced. It’s been a huge hit and parenting win! During this time, the Wishingrads saw the wide variety of milk alternatives, including fruit juices and even yogurt, that people use for cereal if they’re avoiding cow’s milk. Three Wishes Cereal is available in Whole Foods in the Northeast & Southern California, Sprouts nationwide, Wegmans, Air One on the West Coast, Amazon, 150 health food stores in NY, and on the Three Wishes website. They have generously given the “Just Enjoy Health” listeners a coupon for 10% off! Use coupon code: justenjoyhealth

Are you ready to be surprised by how delicious this healthy cereal is?
