Using Essential Oils for Emotional Wellbeing

Articles· Essential Oils

There are wonderful books and reference guides available on how to use essential oils. My favorite book on emotional wellness are Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils and I talk about it in my video below.

There are bits and pieces that have been drawn from this book for this post. Like all reference materials you’ll have to experiment and investigate for yourself as well as use the information that works for you. It can be empowering to learn how to use essential oils in the ways that respond best to your body. I am super excited for you to read this post about using essential oils to get past some of the emotions that everyone experiences from day to day. We are all carrying emotional baggage. It is such a blessing that essential oils are tools that can unlock some of that emotional baggage.

The information shared in this class is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any illness. Please talk to your doctor if you have any questions about your specific medical needs. That being said, I believe that you don’t need to be an expert to make better choices of your health and wellness.

When I use many of the below oils I almost always use a carrier oil combined with the oil when applying it topically to protect the skin. Sweet almond oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil or apricot kernel oil are also great options.

Emotion: Occasional Anxiety

Who hasn’t dealt with some occasional anxiety? The Opposite Emotion for Occasional Anxiety is CONFIDENCE. The Way out of occasional anxiety is to “Be at Peace, Be still”

The oil that is most helpful to boost confidence is Joy. Joy is a floral blend of Rose, Bergamot, Madarin, Ylang Ylang, Lemon, Geranium, Jasmine, Palmarosa, Roman Chamomile, Rosewood.

Apply joy to the right interior side along your rib cage anytime you need relief of occasional anxiety.

Bergamot and Cypress are also great for boosting confidence.

Emotion: I Can’t

Do you ever struggle with not accepting that you CAN achieve anything? Do you find yourself struggling with continued negative selftalk or even self sabotaging because you don’t believe that you CAN?

The way out of this emotion is to “accept that you CAN”.

The oil that is most helpful for this belief is TRANSFORMATION. Transformation is a blend that is helpful for changing ones belief system. It is a blend of Lemon, Peppermint, Sandalwood, Clary Sage, Frankincense, and Idaho Balsam Fir, Rosemary and Cardamom. Diffuse this oil for effective use or apply it topically on your abdomen.

Frankincense & Surrender are also great oils to accepting that you CAN!

Emotion: Difficulty

Do you ever feel that things in life are too difficult to achieve? Do you feel like you don’t have the gifts to achieve your dreams? Or something else? You have little kids attached to you all the time?

The opposite of difficulty is KNOWING truth. Know that there is ALWAYS a way out of difficulty and difficulty will always pass. Often times our difficulties are actually blessings in disguise. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. -Deuteronomy 31:6

You can do this!!!

Myrrh is the oil to apply if you are feeling like things in life are just too difficult for you. Myrrh has a rich, smoky, balsamic aroma that is purifying, restorative, revitalizing, and uplifting. It is a helpful aid to meditation, having one of the highest levels of sesquiterpenes available. Sesquiterpenes are a class of compounds that have a direct effect on the hypothalamus, pituitary, and amygdala, the seat of our emotions. Apply this oil on your left tailbone and to your feet when you are struggling with difficulty.

Grounding & Lavender are also great oils to help get over difficulties in life.

Emotion: Disappointment

At times in life things don’t go exactly as we’ve planned and we experience disappointment. The opposite of disappointment is FREEDOM! Freedom to know that everything happens for a reason and for good. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. -Romans 8:28

Apply Joy for struggles with disappointment. Apply over and around the sternum on the chest.

Inner Child & Orange are also great oils to help the struggle with disappointment.

Emotion: Discouragement, Overwhelmed, Helplessness

It is very difficult to live a healthy life when we are facing discouragement, being overwhelmed, or feeling helpless. The feelings stifle and dim our vision for the future. They set up emotional roadblocks that must be overcome in order to charge into the future. This is why I love knowing Bible verses and clinging to truth during when I feel overwhelm. And, making sure I have my essential oils by my side.

The best oil for turning these emotions around and increasing your VISION for your future is Envision. This happens to be one of my favorite oils! Envision is a blend of sage, geranium, orange, Rose, Lavender and spruce. I use it on a regular basis to curb these feelings and help process my overwhelm I can feel on a daily basis. The best place to apply Envision is to the temples.

Magnify your purpose and Abundance are also great help to increase your vision too!

Emotion: Failure

Most people that don’t succeed in their lives have a hidden fear of failure and they don’t believe that they really can succeed. Failure can actually be the rejection of growth. Many people would consider they have failed at certain things, but the people who truly succeed are the ones that overcome the failures.

To reject failure is to accept GROWTH into your life. When you come to a point in the road when many in the world would say you have failed, you need to stake your claim and use it as a growing experience that will change you and cause you to rethink the way you do things. Set new goals, keep going towards the vision in which you have been called.

The oil that is helpful in combating failure is Peppermint.

Emotion: Frustration

Things can get frustrating at home or at work once in awhile. The opposite of frustration is the feeling of ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Lemon is amazingly helpful when trying to get rid of feelings of frustration. It is very calming and has an uplifting scent.

Stress Away & Peace&Calming are amazing at calming down your frustrations at ANY AGE!!!

Emotion: Unfulfilled

When you are unfilled you are not fully aware of who you are and what your mission is. Once you have your mission in mind and your calling in mind you will begin to experience FULFILLMENT.

Use Marjoram applied to the back of the head. As you apply remind yourself “I am aware of who I am. I have a vision for the future. I have a calling.”

Gathering and Grounding are also great options to feel the FULFILLMENT!

Emotion: Unmotivated

When I am unmotivated I want nothing more than to thrive in the opposite of unmotivated. I want to be completely FOCUSED on the task (or tasks) in front of me. I want to be focused on the task at hand and complete the next task on my list.

Lime can be helpful for giving yourself a kick in the pants for motivation. Motivation can also be a very helpful blend to conquer this road block as well as Rosemary! I went to a coffee shop and applied some motivation and I can’t believe the amount of work I got accomplished in 2 hours.

Emotion: Inadequate

The opposite of being inadequate is being EMPOWERED.

What does it mean to be EMPOWERED? It means to be CONFIDENT in your direction. It means that there are many things that you DO have control over. To be empowered means you are divinely directed and have a calling on your life and you can walk with faith and confidence.

As you apply Idaho Balsam Fir or White Fir tell yourself, “I am divinely directed.” Apply Idaho Balsam Fir or White Fir to the top of the skull.

There are of course more emotions that you may struggle with. Getting a copy of the book Releasing Emotional Patterns can help you dig deeper into the specific emotions and what essential oils will help you the most.

Highest potential and Valor are great oils to feel empowered and confident!

@alliebstuckey so beautifully said. And a challeng @alliebstuckey so beautifully said. And a challenge to be more bold in my own faith.

Friends: Be bold for Jesus. It isn’t always the easiest choice when living in this fallen world. But it is the most meaningful, purposeful, joyful, and eternal thing you can do. We were created to be in relationship with our creator.

Study your Bible, pray, believe in faith what Christ did for you on the cross, teach your kids, love people well while speaking the truth in love.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

And if you don’t know Christ yet, know he died for you. And he wants to be in relationship with you.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:10 “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
The girls and I are unboxing our goodies from Skou The girls and I are unboxing our goodies from Skout Organic. We have bought hundreds of the kid Skout Bars over the years. And their cookies, so delish.

They are all gluten free and made with healthy ingredients. Before Skout bar we were buying Larabars. Which are great in a pinch, but I didn’t love the non organic nuts and my girls eating them multiple times per week. So I bought the Skout bars and in my opinion, they are a lot better and come in more flavors.

I have to say, I still haven’t tried the lemon poppy seed cookies, but they are going to be sampled tomorrow and I can’t wait. It’s one of my favorite flavors.

Have you tried any Skout Organic products yet??

How many of you resonate with one or more of these How many of you resonate with one or more of these?

I get it, I’ve been there and it is so easy to get stuck in one or many of these pitfalls. I am writing about this now because I think so many people tell you these black and white ways of thinking are right and there’s nothing bad about thinking like this.

But there is such hidden danger lurking in this mentality I think it has burned SO MANY PEOPLE. And I may have been apart of this culture and thinking, unknowingly. Do you know when your eyes are opened you can’t unsee things, that’s how I feel now.

But these are really all trying to cover the fear and desire for control with wisdom. And it is so common. It is an idol of control and the weight of that is overwhelming and heavy. I secretly want to poll all of the health influencers and practitioners and see if they struggle with this idol of controlling their health. But it is disguised as good. I bet the numbers would be way higher than you ever thought.

But what if there is a middle ground? What if you can be healthy and have it somehow strike a version of that illusive balance? What if you can have freedom in your health and still make healthy choices? Doesn’t that sound so good? Do you feel like you can breathe a little deeper? Or finally relax?

I will tell you this is possible. But it doesn’t happen overnight, it can take some time and that is ok. It is really changing the wiring on how you think about health and your body. But if you keep working on breaking free of fear and control you can get that freedom back again.

In my next post I want to share some ways you can break out of the fear.
Friend…. I completed 15 pushups almost everyday in Friend…. I completed 15 pushups almost everyday in June. This is such an accomplishment for me. Let me explain.

I was going to make an even better reel, but I didn’t because tech takes too long 😉. So I’m going old school and writing a long post.

Ever since 2020 I’ve believed there is something wrong with my body. Chronic unexplained symptoms abounded. Some 24/7. For years!

And finally in 2024/ 2025 I realized a lot of my symptoms were from stress and fear. And they created a fear response of me avoiding, thinking my body was broken, and looking for a supplement/ detox fix.

And 6 months ago I said that’s enough. What if I’m really not broken? What if God’s healing is coming by Him doing a massive internal transformation in me?

I’m breaking down old legalistic beliefs, working on things I fear, putting less pressure on myself, realizing my symptoms aren’t dangerous, starting to workout in response to the belief I’m actually strong, and so much more.

Ultimately, surrendering and trusting the Lord is the root. It’s so spiritual in nature.

I’ve seen a lot of progress. And there is still progress to go.

But when I saw @alliebstuckey post about the push up challenge in June I knew I had to do it. I wanted to show myself my trength. That I can show up for myself. I can prove I can do it.

And I did. And I’m so proud of myself. I see my body, mind, and nervous system healing. And had to share this video. And let me tell you, this video is really more of a highlight reel for me and not you 💕. But please, join in with me in this celebration!!

And I want to tell you that you can show up well and balanced for yourself. Show yourself your body is strong because your body is strong! Even if there is healing and recovery that needs to happen, you are still so strong!

PS. I chose this song because of the greatest showman YouTube video of the first time she sang this. Iykyk. If not, go look it up. GOOSEBUMPS!!

@therealsteadycoach
Well, I have to start somewhere. Celebrating the l Well, I have to start somewhere. Celebrating the little victories (that are actually really big) and trusting God in the process!!
Do your attempts to get healthy borders on obsessi Do your attempts to get healthy borders on obsession or orthorexia? Somehow you are now stressed about EVERYTHING being a toxin and brain is swirling with that all day, every day?.

Does that sound like you? Or maybe just me 🤷🏻‍♀️ (please tell me I'm not the only one!)

I just don't think that's the Lord's plan for our lives and thought lives. I think there is another way to do health differently than our country and yet not become fearful and all-consumed with it all. We can be aware, make wise decisions, and let the rest be in the Lord's hands.

Most of you know I've taken 7 months off of posting regular content on my Instagram page. I only intended to stop posting for 2-4 weeks. But I realized I was stuck in this mental loop of always thinking about my health and my symptoms and then I was in a business where I only posted about health. That needed to stop. And when I slowed that loop I realized hey, I don't even want to post, so I didn't.

Are you living in that balance now? Or teetering in the imbalance? If you are feeling imbalanced, the first thing is to NOT beat yourself up about it. If you have had chronic symptoms, I think it is our body's protective mechanism to put us in this loop. But the lie is that we aren't safe with symptoms... but we are safe if things medically check out fine.

To get out of that mind loop, I would encourage you to take these thoughts captive. When they come in, give them to the Lord, and choose to think about something true and lovely and beautiful. Do this as often as you need which will probably be numerous times per day!

It sounds easy but it isn't. Simple, yes. Easy, no. Put your faith in Christ and trust that he can renew your mind back to a healthy balance of holistic health. And if you suffer from symptoms... I do believe this is foundational for symptom resolution too.
