Primal BBQ Chicken Drumsticks

Appetizers· Main Dish· Recipes

How about using that new Primal BBQ sauce recipe in a chicken drumstick recipe? That was the first thing that I thought of once I made the BBQ sauce.

When I was growing up my Nana would always take my cousin and I to the restaurant The Brass Lantern. It was in the little mall in our town and they had a chicken drummie meal on their menu. That was what my cousin and I would order every time we ate there. It was breaded chicken drumsticks with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. I loved eating the chicken drummies, but wasn’t a fan of the breading. I much prefer BBQ sauce. This recipe still has all of the fun of the good ‘ol chicken drumsticks but uses my Primal BBQ sauce to adds flavor and a little bit of spice.

Did you grow up eating chicken drumsticks? Were they breaded, fried or barbecued?

This recipe is SIMPLE!! All you need to do is make the Primal BBQ sauce and have 2 pounds or chicken drumsticks. Oh, plus an oven and a little time!

Primal BBQ Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients

2 pounds organic and free range chicken drumsticks

1- 1 1/2 cups Primal BBQ Sauce (Recipe Here)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Take out a baking sheet and line with parchment paper (it’s optional but helps with clean-up)
  • Lay the chicken drumsticks on the parchment paper
  • Using a spoon or a pastry/ basting brush coat the top of the chicken drumsticks with the BBQ sauce
  • Bake for 15 minutes and take out of the oven and coat again with more of the BBQ sauce. You can really lay it on thick for the second coat
  • Bake for 45 minutes until the BBQ sauce is starting to brown and create a crust over the drumsticks
  • Take out of the oven and let the chicken sit or rest for 5-10 minutes to let the juices (the flavor of the meat) enter back into the meat. This way your chicken is the most tender and flavorful
