How about a crazy, mixed up, yummy turkey burger? This turkey burger has classic Thai tastes; ginger, cilantro, coriander and turmeric.
Turmeric is one of the most amazing and healing spices. It works as an anti-inflammatory and an analgesic. It is also good for immune system function, digestive system, joint health and is a very powerful antioxidant. Turmeric is hands down amazing. How about creating not only a tasty burger, but a burger that throws a huge health punch?
You can serve it on a bed of spinach, or a side of roasted asparagus or coleslaw.
Ingredients
1 pound free range organic ground turkey
¼ cup onion, finely diced
2 Tablespoons cilantro, rough chopped
½ inch piece of ginger, grated
1 clove garlic, grated
½ teaspoon coriander
1 teaspoon tumeric
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 Tablespoon coconut oil
2 Tablespoons cilantro, rough chopped for topping the burgers
Directions
- Put the ground turkey in a medium bowl and add the onion, cilantro, ginger and garlic. Add the spices to the meat and combine all the ingredients with clean hands being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Heat a large skillet on medium and form four equal sized burgers. Lay waxed paper down on a plate before making the burgers because the turkey is very sticky. Lay the burgers on the waxed paper
- Once the skillet is hot, add the coconut oil to the pan and the four burgers around the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until the turkey is done (internal temperature of 165)
- Take off of the heat and let sit for 5 minutes to let the juices set into the turkey. While the turkey is sitting, make the Thai Peanut Sauce
- Top each burger with the Thai Peanut Sauce and fresh cilantro
Thai Peanut Sauce
2 Tablespoons peanut butter
2 Tablespoons grapeseed Veganaise
¼-1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk the peanut butter, mayo and hot sauce together.
