This recipe is for a tart and tangy berry grapefruit smoothie. It uses a whole grapefruit (the tang) and also raspberries and stevia (for the sweet). It mixes up the traditional berry smoothie I usually default to. It’s great go to, but sometimes you need to mix it up. I used to love grapefruit juice, but since I don’t drink juice anymore (because of the very high sugar content) I sometimes can still miss it. This smoothie has the tanginess I crave from the grapefruit and it also tastes very refreshing. It’s also a total meal because of the protein and fat content it still contains.
Smoothies are a go-to in our house when we want a quick meal or when I don’t want to mess up the kitchen again with another meal. (That happens to me, and I’m guessing you’ve been there too). Sometimes I feel like I live in the kitchen and a clean kitchen is something I just need to rest in every once in a while. And that’s when a smoothie works perfectly.
Ingredients
1 whole grapefruit, peeled
1/2 cup canned coconut milk, cold
1/2 cup frozen organic raspberries (you can also use strawberries)
stevia to taste
Ice to taste (Optional, if you want it thicker)
1 scoop whey protein powder
Directions
- In a blender add the grapefruit, coconut milk, raspberries and stevia. Blend for about 10 seconds to puree the grapefruit. It will make a weird texture and be hard to blend if you add all of the ingredients at once
- Add the ice (optional) and the protein powder
- Blend for 30 -45 seconds until you get a smooth consistency
- Serve in a glass for breakfast or for a snack
Enjoy!

Thank you for sharing this recipe – I love grapefruit, but had not thought about putting it in my smoothie. I used a fresh pear with my frozen pineapple & blueberries this morning – tasted good.
Thank you for your recipes – they are such a blessing.
